Happy New Year!

January 1, 2014

2014 has arrived, which is a great thing since I only like even numbers. I hope you all had a fabulous New Years Eve and are having a restful New Years Day. I rang in the New Year with C in Montreal. We had a fabulous time at a party at Monsieur Restaurant + Bar and are currently nursing our hangovers. No regrets, just hazzy memories from a night of partying.

new yearsI wanted to stop in to wish you all a very Happy New Year and in accordance with my 8 tricks to stick to your resolutions, share my resolutions for this coming year to keep me accountable. While I have some loftier life goals (hopefully a cookbook!), for my resolutions I tend to stick to smaller things that can realistically be achieved in a year. Thanks to a tip a picked up from BJ Fogg’s Tiny Habits plan, I’ve framed my resolutions as positive actions that follow something I already do or happens frequently in my life.

New Years ResolutionsMegan sent me this article which sufficiently terrified me about nail bitting so I may actually follow through on #1 this year! And just to clarify, #4 only takes effect after I’ve snapped a picture of my meal 😉

I can’t thank all of you beautiful readers enough for your support in 2013. This little space of mine has become more than I could have ever imagined thanks to YOU. I hope 2014 brings you health and happiness and only the best in life. Happy New Year friends!

Did you celebrate last night? What are your New Years Resolutions?

Amen to every single thing you listed. Cept my nails are way too short to file. I’ll change that one: When I am nervous, do not bite your nails.

Hahaha, sorry about the article :). But I hope it works!!!!! I think I already said this on Instagram (hazy memories, as you said!), but you are SO adorable. You look happy and radiant in that picture! I love goals #2-4 of yours, and they’re all things that I would like to work on this year as well. My #1 goal is to live deliberately … too often, I let the fun things in life pass me by without really enjoying them, and I want to change that. It applies to time, too – I need to be deliberate about how I’m spending my time and make sure I’m doing the things that are valuable to myself or others, not just going through the motions. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! And a great short list. Nail chewing is definitely a problem … and one I have worked on for a long time. I’m better but not perfect – but isn’t that the story of life?

We had a quiet night in, with both kids having parties to go to and one having a sleepover. Looks like you had a blast!

    awwww pretty lady 🙂
Im not big on resolutions, because I never keep them and I find that the majority of people don’t either. Im more of a set a resolution as your main goal and then break it down into things you can accomplish each week or month, so by the end of the year you can actually say that you stuck to your resolution!!

Happy New Years, Davida! I hope your head is feeling better now. I love your positive outlook on your resolutions. I can’t stand the sound of a nail file, it’s worse than a chalk board for me. I usually have to keep my nails crazy short to prevent chipping and needing to use a file.

Happy New Year Davida! I had fun bringing in the New Year here at home with friends playing Cards Against Humanity. I have 8 resolutions for this year. A few of them are 1)making time to practice yoga each day 2) I have a few things in mind to help to challenge myself out of my comfort zone 3) I want to start each day by reading a devotion… and the list goes on 🙂

All of your resolutions sound great because they’re viable in every day – small enough to not take too much effort but still big enough to make a difference. I’m not letting you in on a secret when saying that #2 and #3 would be good to practice in my own life, too.
Why did I have yet to find out you’re with me on the even numbers? I can’t for the life of it work with uneven numbers unless I absolutely have to. It goes so far I’m not sure if I agree that ‘all good things come in threes’. Maybe I’ll make an exception here.

I went out to dinner with my best guy friend, then we met up with my sister and her boyfriend and a few other friends for drinks at a new restaurant, and then we watched The Heat and the ball drop (my least favorite thing–I don’t think it’s that exciting for some reason).
