Mango Matcha Green Tea Smoothie

A few weeks back on a hot summer day I had one of the best smoothies of my life. I walked into Tealish planning to buy an iced tea and walked out with a Mango Matcha Green Tea Smoothie. I’m a huge fan of matcha but I never could have imagined it would taste this good in a smoothie!

I walked out knowing that I would absolutely have to recreate this at home. If I lived closer to Tealish you could bet that I would be there everyday but since that’s not an option (and also not in my budget!) I got busy in the kitchen.

Matcha Mango Smoothie

This smoothie tastes exactly like green tea ice cream but without all the junk! Alls to say that if you don’t like green tea ice cream you probably won’t like this…but if you do, feel free to thank me 😉

Mango Matcha Green Tea Smoothie

Prep Time: 5 mins

Ingredients (Serves: 1)

  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1-1 1/2 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)
  • 3 ice cubes

Instructions

1. Blend everything together.

2. Serve immediately!

    I LOVE green smoothies! I have never even heard of matcha (?)
    I also like to make my smoothies at home, there is one place that I go to post workout for a treat. Everything is fresh, organic and made right in front of me so I know *exactly* what is going into it.

      Matcha is japanese powdered green tea. If you’ve ever had green tea ice cream they make it with matcha. I love tealish for the same reason! It’s so comforting to see exactly what is going into your food. Nothing like a post-workout smoothie!

    Where do you get matcha powder from? I’ve never heard of it. Also, I have GOT to try almond milk. Putting that on my list.

      Most health food stores carry it. You NEED to try almond milk. I honestly could not live without out! Make sure you get the unsweetened kind though 🙂

    You are so creative and that smoothie looks SO GOOD!!! I’m bad and I love smoothies that involve chocolate. I’ve never used matcha powder at home (only gotten it out) but I would love to give it a try! 🙂

      Nothing wrong with chocolate! I need some form of chocolate in mine too (hence to cacao nibs on top!). Let me know if you try it out.

    I love Tealish teas! If I lived in Toronto, I would seriously go there all the time.

    I’ve actually never had matcha before, but I’m curious to try it.

      SO GOOD! It is probably my favourite tea store in Toronto. It’s far away for me too (even though I live in T.O.) so I definitely don’t get there often enough.

    What brand of Matcha powder do you purchase? I always struggle to find one that is unsweetened and doesn’t cost a fortune. Looks delicious! 🙂

      I get mine in the bulk section at Noah’s. Have yet to find one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg but you require so little of it in recipes that I find it lasts me a while. I’ll let you know if I find is cheaper elsewhere xo

      It tastes like really strong green tea. Definitely an acquired taste but I love it!

    I loooove matcha, especially when paired with fruity flavours. Tealish is a favourite spot of mine. Perhaps a meetup over tea soon?

    Okay, found your site searching for smoothies with matcha recipes. I LOVE green tea ice cream, but now that I’m on the AIP, dairy is out for me. I didn’t have mangos in the freezer, but my matcha had come in the mail two days ago and I was ready to get something in the Vitamix:) I whipped up a whole banana, two heaping tsp of matcha, cashew milk, and a tbsp of chia seeds. Heavenly!

    I love mango and matcha. What I do is brew a mango miracle tea and add some matcha into that. It’s absolutely amazing and so healthy for you. Definitely going to try this though as I have some mango in the freezer at the moment so will mash that up with my matcha green tea and let you know.

    I was trying to think what else could I do with my matcha besides adding cold water to it. Then I looked at the fridge and I found some fresh mangoes, searched on matcha recipes on the internet, and good heavens lead me to this site. I just made 2 servings, without sugar or honey, and used a regular milk instead as it’s the one that’s available.

    I am just glad to have bumped into your website because it tastes really good. Saved a little and put it in the freezer for later (instant ice cream I hope! 😀 ). I’m sure will be keeping an eye on your other recipes.

    I hate matcha but I love mango so much. This smoothie makes me curious. I’m going to try this and hope I liked it.
