{MIMM} Weekend Recap 08/09-08/11

August 12, 2013
How is it August 12th already? This summer is seriously flying by and I am not prepared for another Canadian winter. The one redeeming quality is that it’s my birthday month but I might consider trading in all future birthdays for an endless summer…Winter is coming….Please tell me someone else appreciates my Game of Thrones references!

No surprise, this weekend was as fabulous as the last and despite a bad case of the Mondays I’m trying to look on the marvelous side. In case you’re wondering what happened to that Half-Marathon training I was talking about, it has presently been put on the back-burner. My IT band pain is back with a vengeance so running just isn’t an option at the moment. I’m focusing more on strength training and getting in my cardio in other ways. Also talking with my chiropractor about changing my running stride. Any forefoot striker converts out there with advice for me?

Thank you to the wonderful Katie for hosting us. Now let’s get to it…

Marvelous is friday night family dinners. All 9 of us plus C equals A LOT of food. I was in charge of the protein and decided to try out Fit Foodie Find’s Lemon-Salmon Kabobs. This was literally the easiest recipe and everyone loved it! It has officially been added to my must-make-again list.

Marvelous is playing with your food. I’d initially dumped all the berries and banana on one of my Carrot Cake Waffles but the second I went to take a picture my OCD kicked in. I went a little overboard…I’d like to believe I enjoyed it even more since I put so much effort into it.
Marvelous is father-daughter gym sessions. Check out my Dad killin’ it on the elliptical. I actually had a way better picture where I photo-bombed my Dad while he was planking but I by-accidentitally deleted it. Great job Dad!
Marvelous is getting the bikes fixed up (even if the summer is ending). Both bikes are now good-to-go and since I’m attempting to not pound the pavement I’m hoping I can discover a new-found love for cycling. Wish me luck!
Marvelous isย nixing your plans and opting for copious amounts of Sushi instead. C and I had planned to ย get dinner and spend the night at The Taste of the Danforth Greek festival but opted to stay in instead. We heard the crowds were crazy and this gal ain’t so great with lines. My patience is not my strong-suit. A bottle of vino and sushi from Sushi on Bloor on a patio is much more up my alley.
Marvelous is all things free! Especially when it is yoga and kind bars. Lululemon offers free yoga in Trinity Bellwoods park so Mic and I decided to try it out. The class was fantastic and the weather could not have been more perfect. Did I mention I seriously love Toronto?
Marvelous is brunch. Enough said. Caesars and Huevos Rancheros from Beast. The second best Huevos Rancheros I have ever had (behind Coppelia’s of course).
Do they offer free fitness classes around you? How was your weekend? I hope it was marvelous!

What a great weekend! That’s great that your dad goes to the gym with you. Too bad you deleted the plank picture!
Lululemon does offer free classes about 30 mins from me but I’ve never tried one. Now I want to though; it sounds so nice to do outside while the weather is pretty.

Ah that’s unfortunate that it’s so far away! I’m lucky to live in a city where things are pretty accessible. I take it for granted sometimes!

What a marvelous weekend! I’m not a fan of large crowds either and would have definitely opted for the sushi and wine on the patio!

Hello Davida! Thank’s for sharing your weekend recap, I should do that sometimes, but I have loads of recipe posts to be submitted! Hehe, I love your first paragraph and I’m also a fan of Game of Thrones (I can’t believe it’s over already…they make the show so slow!) Good luck with the strength training! The carrot cake waffles look divine especially that it is both vegan & gf ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love the plating!

Oh my goodness, that carrot cake waffle! LOVE!! It’s so pretty – I love eating pretty food. I take longer to just enjoy it ๐Ÿ™‚ Every once in a while there are free yoga classes here in Minneapolis. I hear Chicago has them more frequently which makes me SUPER excited!

I totally took longer to enjoy it! Maybe I should decorate all my food lol…don’t have that kind of patience ahhhh.

I’m surprised Minneapolis doesn’t have that many yoga classes. My BF is from there and raves about how active everyone is! I’ve only been in the winter so I haven’t seen it for myself ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m sure you will find fabulous new adventures in Chicago. So exciting you are moving!

Love Game of Thrones!! Looks like you had an awesome weekend. We don’t really have a lot of free fitness classes around here and the ones at my gym never really work with my schedule, so I’m pretty much a lone ranger at the gym.

I do love fall…I’d love it even more if winter never came ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel ya with the winter though! I thought Toronto was bad but then I visited my BFs fam in Minnesota over christmas and I am convinced it was wayyyyy colder! We were all the way up on the North Shore so that could be why. We can complain together ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Reba! This summer is going by way too fast and I am NOT a happy camper. It might be time I consider moving away from Canada!
