My Summer 2014 Bucket List

June 2, 2014

On Friday night, C and a couple of friends of ours headed to the Royal Ontario Museum for “Friday Night Live“, which is essentially a rave in a museum. Apologies to those of your who received drunken snapchats. The event has been going on for a few years now but for some reason I only got to it on Friday. This made me realize how little I spend exploring Toronto. Even though I grew up here, there is still so much I want to see and do. For this reason I have set out to make the most of the 3 months of the year when it isn’t winter here. So without further ado, here is my summer 2014 bucket list.

romHave a picnic and rent kayaks on the Toronto Islands

Watch an outdoor movie in the Dog Bowl of Trinity Bellwoods Park.

Trinity BellwoodsYoga 889 on the roof of the Thompson Hotel.

Cottage hop (all invitations welcome if you have one!).

Walk along the lake and grab a Caesar from Against the Grain.

IMG_4529Host a brunch on our rooftop.

Bike to the Brickworks for the Saturday Farmer’s Market.

Pop champagne on a boat with this girl.

Publish an ecookbook!!!

40 Gluten Free Breakfast RecipesGo hiking (likely have this one covered on my trip to Yellowstone)

Pick fresh berries with my favourite boys.

Berry PickingPut away the technology and just live in the moment!

C would like to add “go sailing”…I presume he means he will be the one sailing and I will be the one laying in a bather on the boat 😉

What’s on your summer bucket list? What are your favourite summer activities?

Can I come with you to Toronto Islands? I went there and lol’d because there was a nude beach.

Push Lee off the boat. Do it. Although she’d probably do it first. Let’s not forget #1 of the bucket list. hey hey hey.

I would love to have a rooftop brunch, only I don’t have a rooftop… ha.
I am going sailing in Croatia at the end of July-literally cannot wait. My boyfriend’s Dad has take us for the past three Summers, first Turkey, second Greece and now Croatia. I have never been there and the water looks IN-SANE. I can’t wait for the e-book – gluten free breakfast recipes – hello!

I am just hoping for nice weather all summer so I can spend as much time down at the beach as possible. I am also hoping to get out east more this summer (Hamptons, wineries) and Montauk – there’s an ice cream parlor I want to try!

Love your list! Rooftop brunch sounds amazing and I love sailing (i.e. laying on the boat haha). My biggest goal this summer is to visit all my best friends. We’re all so spread out now, but I want to set aside time to go see them.

Need to do a post like this! I feel the same way in that I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for 5 years now and there’s still so much to do. I definitely want to cross off (on my imaginary list) go to an amusement park and go kayaking.

Can I just tag along on your summer bucket list? It sounds pretty amazing to me! I’ve been so focused on studying and all the wedding-related things I’m doing for the two weddings that I’m in that I haven’t even thought about what else I want to do with my summer! I really just want to be outside, as much as possible.

I might just crash your party for every single one of these things. Especially the Toronto Islands and brunch on the rooftop!!
This summer I would love to go hiking, have a blast with my friends and family in Florida, bake cobbler (and it eat a la mode), and get ready for collegeeeee.

Don’t be sorry. Blake and I were living vicariously through you and Curt. I was waiting for an X rated one, but it never came. ADD TO ME TO YOUR LIST. I am going to keep an eye on flights so I can crash your Toronto abode. It’ll be a huge slumber party.

“Cottage hopping” – I am intrigued? Does this involve food…cos if it does, I am in! 🙂

As for my summer list – this year my daughter and I have put a mom-daughter only long Sunday morning run on top pg ours…followed by attending more Farmers Markets and me being more social and attending more events with the Atlanta Food Blogger Society – of which I happen to be a member.

So all of my ROM experiences involve school field trips…going to a rave sounds a million times better.
On my list: staying at a cottage (happening at the end of August) and going to the zoo – I’m determined on that one!

My summer bucket list consists of 1) getting myself and my stuff home in one piece, 2) not dying of the humidity down here, 3) trying to publish a paper – I guess that’s a real one. But first I need to sleep for like 1738383838 hours. You look beautiful in the museum pic!

I made a bucket list with my bestie one summer a few years back, and never ended up using it. Now it’s a joke that we should never make one cause it didn’t work for us! I think I should just make one this year for myself! I love this list Davida. Makes me realize being from the Twin Cities, how many things I haven’t even done here! Thanks for the inspiration! My favorites on your list was berry picking and hosting a brunch! Probably will have those on my list 😉 HAPPY MONDAY!

Ontario sounds like great place to be – hope you get to do all the things on your bucket list – they sound fun!

It’s actually sad how little time I spend exploring Edmonton. I always complain about how boring it is here, but I think 90% of that is because I’m too busy planning trips away instead of finding things to do here. That being said, I hope to do a lot of travelling this summer — especially up to the mountains for hiking, biking, and rafting. I seriously need to pull a Jo and just move up there already.

Isn’t it crazy how we can live in a place forever and never get to know it? I’ve lived in AZ now for 12 yrs and there are still so many places I have yet to see and do.

You guys look too cute! When you get to Yellowstone you better do the extra drive/flight and come to San Francisco, no joke! My summer bucket list includes walking the Golden Gate Bridge. How I haven’t done it yet is far beyond me.

First off wtf is this seemingly “invitation only” “cottage hop” that sounds so casually extravagant and makes me jealous? Also, why am I not invited? (that is the mean Angela part of this comment)

This post reminded me that I need to do a summer bucket list post. I did one last year, too, and I really liked it. This year my biggest summer goal is land a job, though. Other than that, I really want to go hiking a few times a month, have a campfire, and just go to a bunch of concerts. Which I’m doing. So that works out nicely 🙂

This looks like a great bucket list! It’s funny, I think that a lot of people tend to not explore the city they grew in as much as they do other cities. It’s like it doesn’t seem as alluring or interesting since you’ve been around it your whole life haha. This summer I want to go kayaking and would love to do a food tour around San Diego!

My summer bucketlist is pretty simple: savor summer for all its worth. That means enjoy every family trip, every adventure with friends and every new gluten free meal that turns out to be a success! So simple, but so challenging at the same time! 🙂

This sounds like tons of fun, I love taking the time to just enjoy the things that are available in your own town… though in BF’s town I just moved to the options are just about none… I may have to make up a list of my own though and see if I can find some things to try.

I haven’t been to the Brickworks market since the fall, so it’s definitely on my list too. Also berry picking, frequent farmers’ market visits, camping, s’more making, canoeing or kayaking, lots of dining al fresco, and hiking new local trails.
