Lean ground turkey meat is simmered in a flavorful taco seasoning for these delicious and quick 20-minute turkey tacos. Pair with your favorite taco toppings for an easy weeknight dinner recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion (roughly 1 small onion)
  • 1 lb 94% lean ground turkey meat
  • 2 tsp ground chili pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground paprika
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 14 oz can of diced tomatoes
  • 12 corn tortillas (soft or hard shell) or flour tortillas
  • My favorite toppings: homemade guacamole (or sliced avocado), pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, cheese (cotija or shredded cheddar) – see more topping suggestions above.

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet or pan over medium heat and add olive oil and chopped onion. Cook until lightly browned, roughly 3-5 minutes.
  2. Add ground turkey and brown on all sides for another 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in spices and salt and pepper and cook for 1 minute to allow flavors to absorb.
  4. Add canned diced tomatoes and lower heat to a simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes until tomatoes have mostly broken down.
  5. Heat your tortillas on the stove-top or in microwave.
  6. Add a scoop of turkey mixture and top with desired toppings.
  7. See instructions above for storage.
