  • When was the last time you said no? What if I told you it was actually good for your health?
What I’ve learned is that saying no really means saying yes. It means saying yes to you, and your values. It means saying yes to the people you love and your responsibility to be a kind, compassionate human to yourself and those around you.
It doesn’t get you out of paying your taxes or showing up to the things you hate doing (we all have those things), but instead asking yourself if you have the choice between saying yes and no, is yes really the answer?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today on the podcast I’m chatting with the incredible @avivaromm all about the art of saying no and how it can have massive impacts on your mental and even physical health. We’re chatting burn-out, the adrenals and taking better care of your thyroid. Dr. Romm is an integrative MD specializing in women’s hormones so trust me when I say you’re going to want to say YES to this episode. Link in bio or listen on your favorite podcast player .

  • I get asked all the time where people can take my yoga classes and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share that I am officially on the roster at @thepadstudios teaching my absolute favorite pre-natal classes. I’m not gonna lie, this was a big decision. I’ve loved being able to teach pop-up classes and teach here on the gram or on THM but I also felt disconnected from my students (and fellow teachers/students - we’re all students!). At the same time, I value flexibility and as I’m sure you’ve picked up from watching my life on here, I lead a pretty flexible life. But here’s the thing: fear was the only thing stopping me. Fear that I’m not enough. Fear that I can’t always be available and flexible. Fear. Lots of it. So I’m feeling the fears and doing it anyway. After all, there’s no place in the world that I’d rather be than in San Francisco (and especially at @thepadstudios!) so come find me there Tuesday nights at 6:15 PM teaching prenatal and subbing in from time to time. If you’re not a mama-to-be, it’s all good! Plenty more classes coming your way - but tell your mama friends to stop by! Very excited for this next phase of my journey.

  • That moment when you know you’ve arrived home for the very first time✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This weekend Curt and I went camping and spent another weekend exploring the nooks and crannies of this beautiful state we call home. We sat atop the rolling hills and talked about the things we love most about living in Northern California and how much our life has changed. 2.5 years ago we packed up all our belongings (including a 3 month old puppy) and headed west for a new adventure. We left loved ones and a wonderful life in Toronto behind for the unknown. And it’s paid off…tenfold.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Life doesn’t come without risk and it also doesn’t come without failure. I’ve failed at many things in my life but the ones that worked out were always meant to. So take the risk and move to California (or New York or whatever place is calling to you), date that person (even when they’re some random viking from Minnesota), get the dog, start a blog, write a novel, quit your job or do whatever scares the sh*t out of you. It’s worth it.

  • Yes I am quoting myself because this is THE most important life lesson I have ever learned…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For most of my life I walked around acting like I knew exactly who I was. In hindsight it was all just a defence mechanism because I had no flipping idea who I was (which FYI is totally and completely normal). I judged people who changed and evolved and became new versions of themselves because I didn’t think they were trustworthy - clearly they had no clue who they were so why should I trust them?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve come to learn that the only consistent thing in life is change. Change is normal. Change is HUMAN. It’s what the human experience is all about. Yet for longest time I denied myself the permission to evolve. Well, a year ago all of that changed and I finally allowed myself to really open up to the possibility that I could be a different version of myself. That I don’t have to be who I think I am. What a profoundly intense and incredible year it has been.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today on the podcast I’m sharing this journey. The good, the bad, the ugly (the ugly cries) and that time my deceased grandmother showed up…twice. YUP. I’m putting it all out there. Please be kind. Link in bio or listen on your favorite podcast player✌️EPISODE 100 baby!!!!

  • Sometimes I think the most toxic thing in our culture is judgement…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The other day I was sharing some of the non-toxic beauty products I picked up at the Whole Foods natural beauty sale. I love sharing non-toxic and clean beauty product finds and helping you navigate this already confusing world. It’s something I’m passionate about and I care deeply what I put on my body. But I’m also not perfect, nor have I ever claimed to be. As I was sharing, a number of you reached out commenting on my nails and how I could GASP have gel nail polish on them. THE HORROR. How could I possibly be someone who cares about clean beauty AND gets toxic nail polish put on my fingers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a former black and white thinker + lover of labels, I get it. Life is easier when we can fit it into boxes; when we can easily label someone or something as “healthy” or “unhealthy”, “toxic” or “non-toxic”. But unfortunately (or fortunately!) life is not that simple. We are complex beings living in a complex world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love clean beauty and I’m not gonna lie, my nails look awesome right now.
I ate this veggie-filled wrap for lunch and then came home and ate a handful of mini eggs.
I meditated this morning and I’ll take my antidepressant tonight.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The healthy maven has always been a space where we talk about living healthFULLY, not just living for your health. Most importantly, it is a judgment-free zone. Funny enough I think this is the most important piece of living healthfully, spreading love and kindness to those around us but especially to ourselves. That is all✌️

  • At 16 I walked into my first yoga class. I’ll never forget that day…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was a beginner class being offered at a local gym. The teacher’s name was Cyndi and she was soft-spoken and patient. My limbs were flailing and I had no idea what was going on, but I went with it. And after my very first savasana (I lay there with my eyes open!) I left feeling better than I had expected I would. I went back every Saturday morning that year.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Upon reflection I have come to realize that this was the first time in my life someone had given me permission to breathe. Seems simple, right? Inhale. Exhale. But if you’ve never taken a yoga or meditation class and/or didn’t grow up in a hippie enclave you maybe had never heard this message either.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today on the podcast I invited my dear friend @ohkayyoga on the show to share all about breath work and how to use it for healing. Kay is a breath work and yoga instructor here in San Francisco in addition to being a practicing buddhist and all-around incredible human. I’m thrilled to share this episode with you! • While I absolutely love connecting with you guys on Instagram, I will admit that it doesn’t matter a whole lot for my business...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
People are always surprised to hear this. They automatically assume that the number of followers you have on Instagram is indicative of the success of your business, but this simply isn’t true. When it comes to building a business, I was pretty intentional about not succumbing to only using Instagram - even if it’s oftentimes the easier choice!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is something we’ve discussed a lot as our 6 weeks of the @Camp.Wellness Bootcamp has come to a close and we realized that there is such a misconception about Instagram and business. Did you know that behind Google, Pinterest drives the most traffic to THM? We’re talking thousands of views a day! My strategy with THM has always been simple: Pinterest, SEO and Email Marketing. Everything else is a great add-on but a non-essential (btw this also means taking Instagram breaks is so much easier!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SO we’ve decided to break this all down for you in @camp.wellness’s latest course: The Pinterest Bootcamp! The 5 modules will walk you through how to set-up your Pinterest account to see success, why followers don’t matter, how to create quality pins and drive traffic for your business. SEO and Email Marketing coming soon but Pinterest is by far the easiest to get up and running and see results ASAP. Link in bio for details on the course or checkout @camp.wellness!

Do you use Pinterest? Did you realize how important it is?

  • It’s easy to get wrapped up in the idea of “more”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
More being, more doing, more sharing, more, more, more.
As cliche as it may sound, less is oftentimes more. That’s been my motto lately.
As winter set-in I allowed myself to get quiet and go inwards. To say no to things that don’t light me up. And just to say no, period.
In the process I’ve gained so much clarity and as the first buds of spring bloom, I also feel myself blooming.
I’m ready for more, but it’s a different kind of more now. Not one rooted in hustle and depletion but in living my truth and allowing that to unfold in whatever way inspires.
Creation from inspiration doesn’t feel like more. It feels like YES while leaving space for when we all inevitably need time to get quiet and say no.
What a beautiful awakening this has been🌸
P.S. new #cleanbeauty5x5 video! I freaking love sharing these reviews with you.

  • Spring has sprung here in SF and I honestly couldn’t be happier...even if my seasonal allergies (aka year round allergies in California!) are raging🤪
I’ve written a post all about tackling seasonal allergies holistically (I’ll add the link to my bio!) but one of my favorite tips is adding bee pollen to your diet. I like adding a sprinkle of bee pollen to my smoothie in addition to covering it with cereal cause #balance ya know?! If you’re curious I get all my bee products from @beekeepers_naturals but y’all probably know that by now cause I talk about them incessantly...
Speaking of brands I love, I’m sharing how I make this smoothie bowl over on @earthboundfarm stories today so check it out! It’s pretty simple and delicious!
Also can you spot the jasmine plant in the corner that just sprouted her first babies?! Curt and I are attempting to grow an outdoor plant indoors and so far so good! Happy Friday friends! #smoothie #smoothiebowl #spring #thisisspring #organic #organicfood #plantlady
