It feels good to be back! It was so nice to disconnect and enjoy a few days away from home. Certainly not a relaxing vacation but exactly what I needed to get me out of the winter dumps.

Before I recap I just wanted to give all of you who linked up to Friday’s Great St. Patrick’s Day Green Link-Up a HUGE thank you! I was honestly astounded by your creativity and talent. I don’t have an ounce of Irish blood in me but I was the proudest leprechaun you ever did see.

Now for the fun stuff. Here’s what I ate, drank and saw in NYC these past few days:

nyc 2014The Eats:

-Dinner at Empellion Cocina– the pistachio guacamole and salsa sampler is a MUST.
-Brunch at Westville-an NYC staple and one of my favs (bloody mary included).
-The BEST chocolate chip cookie in NYC at The City Bakery-you better bet I have tried 90% of NYC’s bakeries and this is by far the best chocolate chip cookie of all five boroughs.
-Brunch at Coppelia-I lived 1/2 block away from here and this was my go-to restaurant for all meals but especially their Huevos Rancheros.
-Homemade Bloody Mary Mussels from Cassie-Dale and I love bloody mary’s and mussels and Cassie is a straight-up genius with this recipe.

The Drinks:

-Wine at Birreria-surprisingly cheap and when the weather is nicer one of the best rooftop patios in NYC.
-St. Patrick’s Day celebrations at Dempsey’s.
-Lots of cider, bloody mary’s and wine across the city.

The Sights:

Chelsea Market in search of Jacques Torres chocolate, which apparently closed down (only this location).
-Shopping at my favourite clothing store, Club Monaco.
-Shopping at my favourite grocery store, Trader Joe’s (duh).
-Shopping for my biggest weakness, food props at Fishs Eddy.

The People:

-I finally met Britt who is super cool and as awesome as she comes across on her blog.
-The sister-wives who legitimately complete me.
-Everyone else who I got to catch up with, you know who you are 😉

A fabulous weekend! And now I have to go unpack a suitcase full of Trader Joe’s goodies.

Have you ever been to NYC? What are your favourite places to eat, drink and see?

  1. So glad you had a good time! I have been to NYC twice and the last time Miguel and I went we ate at a restaurant at the top of a hotel that spun! Talk about feeling tipsy when you’re only one drink in! It was great though.

  2. I’m so glad you had a great trip! I know exactly what you mean about visits that are not at all relaxing but exactly what you need. Next time I head into the city I’m getting one of those cookies for sure!

  3. Looks like you made the most of it! That is awesome! I live only a few hours away, so have tried to make the most of it while I am living here. There are so many places to go, it is hard to get around it all in one weekend. I actually went for the first time last St. Patricks day. It was pretty crazy in Times square! I am glad you went to Chelsea market, that is one of my favorite places there.

Thanks for giving my super nerdy spreadsheet even MORE places to go in NYC. I am never gonna be able to get around them all!

  4. Aww yay! So glad you had fun!! I need to try out…all the places you ate. Because I’ve been to none of them. SHAME ON ME.

  5. Oh I MISS NYC so much!! I went to Bareburger when I was there – except the fact that they didn’t sell any alcohol (I almost had a freaking heart attack) – the food is beyond delicious and oh so organic!
You look so happy and stunning in all those pics, so glad you had a great time!!

  6. Looks like you had a great time! Maybe next time we can meet up for one of those cookies, I love a good chocolate chip! Max Brenner’s is the best chocolate chip to me but I want to try this one. I may need to head in just to see!

  7. It sounds like you had the perfect weekend! Love all of the amazing eats and happy faces. NY is definitely on my list of cities to visit in the near-ish future – I need to earn the money for the flight first 😉 And your recap just reminded me, that I owe you guys my Paris recap. I’ve been such a bad blogger recently *sigh*. Sometimes life is just so much more fun when you don’t write it down :p

  8. Looks like great times and good eats 🙂 I love NYC! I wish I could visit more often.

  9. Please please please tell me you went to ‘our’ Mexican place. Please!

I love chelsea market… especially the seafood shop! Argh this post made me so homesick for NYC….is it copycat reality TV-ing if we do Davs and A take NYC?
