What I never expected when I started this blog was how much perseverance I would need to have. Part of being a recipe developer is expecting things to fail and having the courage to try again when they do.
Because fail they will and crying over your third attempt of avocado ice cream just ain’t gonna cut it. You have to be able to pick yourself up, recognize that you’re onto something and try again, even when the universe has it out for you.
Okay, I totally cried over the third attempt but please don’t kick me out of food blogger academy.
But yes, recipes fail all the time and if I let every single one get me down I definitely would not be here.
In fact, so much of this job requires more perseverance than you could imagine. It meant showing up here everyday when the only person reading was my Mom (who stopped in once a week…). It meant believing that I could turn my hobby into a business when the majority of people had only a vague sense of what blogging professionally really required.
And perhaps more importantly, it’s meant sticking to my guns and allowing this space to evolve in a way that made sense to ME, not in whatever way was trending around me.
It took me four attempts so in addition to the avocado, banana, maple syrup and cacao powder, the recipe includes my blood, sweat and tears.
You might not find this flavour in Baskin and Robbins anytime soon, but it’s made from wholesome ingredients that include healthy fats, antioxidants and natural sweeteners. It’s the kind of ice cream you can eat everyday.
So don’t give up on ice cream being a part of a healthy diet. You must persevere. Try reaching for this healthy chocolate avocado ice cream instead.
- Place all ingredients into a food processor and process until broken down and ice cream consistency is reached. You will need to scrape down sides on occasion.
- Feel free to add in optional add-ins at this point.
- Will take around 2-5 minutes to reach desired consistency
