{VIDEO} My Winter Favorites

February 3, 2017

Hello from Israel! The last few months have been a bit of a wild ride moving across the continent so that’s meant putting my favorite videos on the backburner. But we’re officially set-up in our new home, which means it’s way less weird for me to dip off in random people’s houses to go film…JK but to all the people who hosted us and tolerated me doing strange activities in various areas of your houses, THANK YOU.

Nevertheless, I’m back with a monthly favorites, or “winter favorites” since we all know I suck at doing monthly favorites videos. But it also means that the lag between videos results in me finding a bunch of new products I totally love.

Usually I have a bunch of beauty products, but with the move, I’ve tried to keep that stuff to a minimum and am also waiting for a Detox Market sale before I put in my next order #truelife.

But there are plenty of healthy eats and clothing options for you this month. I’m still getting used to our new neighborhood and finding local eats around SF, but there are certain things that I’ve been obsessed with lately. Also surprisingly, I’ve had to buy a few wardrobe staples for out here. It’s been chilly here (I know, I know, not nearly as chilly as Toronto!) but with the humidity it’s this deep cold that has required a solid expansion of my sweater collection. Also finding the perfect jacket was struggle, but Patagonia obviously came through.

Make sure you watch the video to find out what my winter favorites are and join the THM TRIBE where I share a weekly Friday Favorites of links and products I’m loving that week.

I totally agree with your thoughts about “stuff”. I have worked on minimizing my stuff as I am currently traveling for a few months and put all my stuff at my fiance’s place. It is true though that stuff can also make you happy but at the same time too much stuff can be overwhelming. It was so freeing to get rid of some of the stuff I was holding on to. I think it is thinking about what you really need. Like you needed a functional jacket and found one that you loved. Even if you can get a cheaper one, I think it is good to think about how long it will last and the quality. I definitely have gone quality over quantity and I think it makes me appreciate my things more. Like for my trip I knew I wanted hiking boots and I spent a bit of money on a good pair, but honestly it was one of my best purchases because they are SOO comfy and I love them. I did the same for getting a camera before I left. I knew it was time to break out of my point and shoot $100 cameras and finally get something where I can learn manual settings and change the lens. Totally worth the investment.

You nailed it on the head! It’s not about not spending money or consuming stuff, but rather about investing in things that will last and truly bring you both joy and function. Hope you’re loving the travel and capturing every second with your new camera!

Fav winter favourite is Bag Balm! I use it on my lips, hands, elbows – and even my pup’s paws after a long walk! It is definitely a winter life saver 🙂 XO
