With just 4 basic ingredients and 3 optional ad-ins, these Almond Butter Hemp Seed Cookies couldn’t get easier! They’re made from clean ingredients, are high in protein and make a heart-healthy alternative to junk-filled cookies.
I’m often asked what my favourite part is about my job. It’s an answer I struggle with because my job is ever-changing and something that I love this week will probably be my worst nightmare next week (story of my life…), but I think I’ve finally nailed down my answer.
I absolutely LOVE that every single day I’m challenged to try something new.
I can’t believe I just said that.
A few years ago, the thought of change and anything new scared the bajeeeezus out of me. PROOF. But I’ve made it my life mission to tackle that fear and somewhere along the way it became something I enjoyed.
I’ve come to learn that anything that scares you is exactly what you should be doing.
RELATED: Double Chocolate Espresso Cookies
There truly is nothing more magical than the feeling of tackling something new and realizing that you’re capable of more than you thought possible.
But all of this takes work, practice and patience. The latter of which is not my strong suit.
Take this Almond Butter Hemp Seed Cookies post. At one point in my life I would not have thought that writing a blog post – let alone a blog- was something I was capable of. Food photography gave me anxiety and social media overwhelmed me. Now these things are so basic for me and I’ve streamlined the process to a point where I could probably do it all with my eyes closed…upside down. Except when I come back from vacation.
Sometimes I decide I’m going to tackle GIFs or collages or business-related tasks like pitches and designing proposals. Occasionally I really step out there and take on crazy projects like creating and publishing an ecookbook in 7 weeks. NBD.
My latest project is video. I’ll admit that I hate it. With a passion. I even filmed a video for this post. But it sucks so you don’t get to see it.
But here’s the thing, even though it sucks I know that the next one will be better. I’ll eventually figure out lighting and Adobe Premiere and really creating a piece of work that is both of value to you and an accomplishment for me.
So I’m going to keep at it and one day you’ll get to see the product of this hard work.
Until then, I’m going to keep trying something that scares me every.single.day. I encourage you to do the same because damnnnnn it feels good.

April 20, 2015 at 2:34 pmHell yea! I’m all about doing things that scare me… I see all too often that people live in their comfortable shells and never challenge themselves outside of their comfort zone. When something is exciting but scary, that’s when I know that I should go for it!

April 19, 2015 at 11:56 pmI’m allergic to almonds and eggs. Do you think cashew or sunflower butter, or even peanut butter would be good here? Also which egg substitute do you think would work best?

April 19, 2015 at 9:29 amLove how easy these are! I’m always trying to find/figure out quick and easy cookie/muffin recipes to have for snacks during the week for my whole family. Great idea. I’m sure the video wasn’t nearly as bad as you think!

April 19, 2015 at 9:03 amI’m terrified of change. I’m actually having trouble sleeping these days because of graduation. Not being in school and having to look for a job is a little too much for me to fathom apparently. But I’m working on it.
p.s. all I was to do now is see that video haha

April 19, 2015 at 8:38 amI totally agree. I am convinced that we gain so much strength if we challenge ourselves everyday – with the successes AND the failures.
I am just on my trip around the world on my own and well, I have no clue what all those days in these five weeks will bring and I am on my OWN. Talk about a challenge but one I LOVE. I got lost in Sydney today, so that was a big one. I made it back home and didn’t die 🙂
